Madison Square Garden is hosting a WWE event for the first time since the pandemic began, per report.
It was first reported by PWInsider that the 9/10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will emanate from Madison Square Garden. POST Wrestling’s John Pollock confirmed that SmackDown in MSG is scheduled for 9/10. Several days ago, the arena played host to a concert that had a full capacity crowd in attendance. The concert was the first show that MSG hosted in over a year.

WWE had two MSG events on the calendar in 2020 prior to the pandemic. Also, New Japan Pro-Wrestling was going to run their Wrestle Dynasty show from the arena on 8/22. Former NJPW President Harold Meij told Sports Illustrated that it would become a yearly event.
MSG nor WWE has yet to confirm the date for the company’s return to The Garden.
