The GLEAT promotion, which was founded by former NOAH parent company Lidet Entertainment is running a show on July 1st at Tokyo Dome City Hall. New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s SHO will be competing on the card.

New Japan announced the news on their digital channels and noted that SHO will represent NJPW and CHAOS at the GLEAT show. He’ll be headlining the event against the 27-year-old Takanori Ito. The match is going to take place under UWF rules.

The following is from NJPW1972.com:

Thursday July 1 will see SHO represent NJPW and CHAOS at GLEAT’s card in Tokyo Dome City Hall, as he faces Takanori Ito in the main event.

GLEAT was established in October 2020 under executive director, former wrestler and MMA pioneer Kiyoshi Tamura. After special preview event GLEAT ver.0 last autumn, this GLEAT Ver. 1 card sees the promotion’s first fully fledged event.

GLEAT combines disciplines under traditional pro-wrestling in the form of ‘G Pro-Wrestling’, and MMA influenced stylings under the ‘LIDET UWF’ brands. SHO’s main event will take place under UWF rules against 27 year-old Ito, who made his pro debut in WRESTLE-1 in 2016 after a background in full contact karate.

SHO has his own background in jiu jitsu and MMA, and now wrestles under UWF rules for the first time.

SHO is a former 5-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. He and YOH recently lost the titles to Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo during the Kizuna Road tour.
