A new Triple Crown Champion was crowned on Saturday at All Japan Pro Wrestling’s ‘Champions Night’ event at Ota Ward Gymnasium in Tokyo.

In the ‘Decision Match’ involving contenders Kento Miyahara, Jake Lee, and Yuma Aoyagi, it was the 2021 Champion Carnival winner Lee that left as Triple Crown champion.

The format led to a series of 1-on-1 matches where the first participant to score wins over both opponents would be declared the winner and champion.

It began with Miyahara defeating Aoyagi with the Shutdown German suplex and immediately followed with Lee defeating Miyahara. In the final match, Lee beat Aoyagi with the D4C and is the Triple Crown holder.

It is Lee’s first time as Triple Crown holder with the title vacated by Suwama earlier this month after receiving a positive COVID-19 test.

Lee, 32, is a product of the AJPW Dojo and debuted in August 2011. He has previously held the World Tag Team Championship with Naoya Nomura and the All-Asian tag titles twice with Koji Iwamoto. This past year, he won his first Carnival.

Saturday’s card also featured Francesco Akira defeating Koji Iwamoto to become the new AJPW junior heavyweight champion for the first time.

The team of Tajiri, Hokuto Omori & Yusuke Kodama became the new AJPW six-man tag champions defeating Takao Omori, Black Menso-re & Carbell Ito.
