New Japan Pro Wrestling is moving forward with its scheduled event at the Tokyo Dome while the city is under its latest state of emergency.

On Thursday, a state of emergency was issued that will go into effect this Monday and last until August 22nd covering Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba. This period covers the duration of the Summer Olympics, which will no longer have fans in attendance.

NJPW had previously delayed the Wrestle Grand Slam event at Tokyo Dome due to the pandemic but confirmed on Friday the card will move forward. The promotion added that there will be a cut-off for ticket sales on Sunday at Midnight local time.

The following statement was issued by the promotion:

On July 25, ‘Godzilla vs Kong presents: Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome’ will proceed as planned, with NJPW continuing its commitment to safe events as held across Japan with fans for the past year.

However, in light of the recent announcement of another state of emergency across Tokyo and the subsequent restrictions this enforces on live events, we regret to announce that ticket sales for Wrestle Grand Slam will end at midnight JST on July 11.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this causes. We look forward to welcoming fans on July 25, with fan safety given the utmost priority.

Wrestle Grand Slam will be headlined by IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi defending the title against Kota Ibushi.

The Summer Struggle will begin this weekend with back-to-back events in Sapporo. The next show in Tokyo is listed for Saturday, July 17th at Korakuen Hall.
