Byron Saxton: Corey Graves is ‘right there’ with Heenan & Ventura when it comes to WWE commentators

Byron Saxton speaks highly of his longtime colleague and friend Corey Graves. Saxton feels that Graves is one of WWE's best commentators

The current Monday Night Raw commentary team consists of Byron Saxton, Jimmy Smith and Corey Graves. The trio was put together in late May after WWE and Adnan Virk ‘mutually agreed’ to part ways. Graves and Byron have been working with one another and been colleagues for ten years. They’ve commentated Raw, SmackDown and NXT together.

Byron guest appeared on D-Von Dudley’s Table Talk show and heaped praise onto Graves and said it is a blessing for WWE to have him. Saxton went on to add that Graves is ‘right up there’ with Bobby Heenan, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and Jesse Ventura when it comes to WWE’s top commentators.

I think when you look at all the — and there’s been so many greats but when you look at Jesse [Ventura] and Bobby [Heenan] and all these great color guys, The King [Jerry Lawler], who have been in this company, you know, Corey [Graves] is right up there. He is so talented, he is so witty and it’s a blessing for this company to have someone as talented as he is and I’m very fortunate I’ve been able to work with him as long as I have.

Saxton, Graves and Jimmy Smith will be on the call this coming Monday for the final WWE show of their ThunderDome run.

That show will feature a Fatal 4-Way between Asuka, Naomi, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss, along with Xavier Woods taking on WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
