*WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (champion) over Edge in 33:10

The kickoff panel featured Kayla Braxton, Jerry Lawler, JBL, Booker T., and Peter Rosenberg.
Becky Lynch is having fun on Instagram.
The Miz & John Morrison joined the panel and received a thunderous reaction. Booker T. compared The Miz to Conor McGregor.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Rey & Dominik Mysterio (champions) vs. The Usos
The Mysterios has an elaborate entrance as holograms walking into a portal and into the arena.
Dominik found Slapjack’s old hockey mask.
It was a very lively response when the bell rang.
The Usos got the advantage on Rey in their corner until tagging Dominik. Dominik struggled with a springboard to Jimmy.
After The Usos caught a high cross by Dominik, they attacked the younger Mysterio in their corner.
Jimmy landed a superkick on Rey followed by a pop-up Samoan drop for a two-count.
Rey went for the 619 on Jimmy but Jey took the bullet for his brother from the floor. Jey landed a superkick and Uso Splash and a big near fall on Rey.
After knocking Dominik down, Jimmy rolled up Rey and Jey used his legs for leverage to assist his brother and get the pin.
WINNERS: The Usos in 11 minutes and 24 seconds
It was a bit clunky at times with Dominik at the beginning of the match but the final minutes had the crowd on their feet and reacting big to the near falls and the title change. It was a fine kickoff match and The Usos are now seven-time tag champions.
Women’s MITB Ladder Match: Asuka vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki A.S.H. vs. Liv Morgan vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Zelina Vega
Alexa tried to reach up for the briefcase utilizing her powers but was stopped by Asuka attacking with a German suplex.
Tamina held the ladder up and Morgan tried to scale straight up before she crashed and burned.
Bliss and Vega met on top of the ladder and Bliss hypnotized her so Vega climbed down and then Bliss tried to go for the briefcase and was thwarted by Natalya. It’s worth noting the live crowd didn’t react at all to the hypnosis spot.
Naomi had some creative offense including the splits onto Nikki on a ladder. The audience responded to Naomi.
Natalya climbed the ladder with Vega on her back with a choke. Vega tried to grab the briefcase and was stopped by Morgan.
Nikki climbed a ladder on the floor and dove onto everyone inside the ring with a high cross. She kicked off with such force it wasn’t graceful but at least she didn’t mess up her jump.
Bliss hit Sister Abigail to Nikki. Bliss was buried underneath all the ladders on the floor by the other participants as the audience booed. Morgan climbed, she was yanked down by Tamina and executed a ‘rana to send Tamina into the corner.
Morgan and Naomi climbed followed by Natalya, Tamina, Vega, and Asuka up the three ladders that were set up. Nikki returned and climbed too and while the other six fought they didn’t notice Nikki grab the briefcase.
WINNER: Nikki A.S.H. in 15 minutes and 46 seconds
The others were left on the ladder looking upset.
It was a good opener although I wouldn’t say it ever excelled to the point of being great. It was largely creative ideas that didn’t all work and you could argue it was too busy with eight people to try and incorporate them all.
My takeaway was that Alexa Bliss was incredibly popular to the crowd and so was Naomi ahead of other participants that are pushed more.
The Usos celebrated their tag title win with Roman Reigns and said the belts were for him. Reigns noted that Jimmy was smart to learn from Jey, winning the titles was the easy part and Reigns did the heavy lifting bringing Jey back “and you” in reference to Jimmy before he moved on. Reigns said it’s time for The Usos to give what he wants. They hugged.
Raw Tag Team Championship: AJ Styles & Omos (champions) vs. Viking Raiders
For whatever reason, we got a recap of the terrible skills competition between the Viking Raiders and Street Profits from last year.
Styles immediately tagged Omos when the bell rang and he entered with Erik, who tagged Ivar and they tried to double-team Omos unsuccessfully.
Styles was sent flying over the top by Omos and landed with a ‘rana to Erik upon landing, which looked great. In the ring, Styles took the crazy-looking back body drop from Erik.
Omos stopped Erik coming off the turnbuckle and scoop slammed him.
The crowd was chanting for AJ Styles and he was the most popular participant in the match.
Ivar knocked Omos off the apron when he wasn’t legal as the Viking Raiders are totally working as heels.
Omos used a military press on Ivar and stepped on top for a two-count.
The Vikings double-teamed Omos and forced him to sell and he was sent to the floor but not off his feet.
Styles was left with Ivar, missed with the Phenomenal Forearm and they hit the Viking Experience but Omos nailed Erik from the apron, who dropped on top of Ivar to break the cover.
Omos needed two tries but lifted Erik for the Tree Slam and got the cover.
WINNERS: AJ Styles & Omos in 12 minutes and 56 seconds to retain the Raw Tag Team Championship
The match had a pretty good flow to it. It was the most they’ve relied on Omos for a match and he did his part, although is still extremely limited and I would not encourage him to be selling because that wasn’t pretty. Styles was incredibly popular and it’s clear the audience sees him at a higher level than where he slotted but this was a fun tag match and one of the better matches the Viking Raiders have had since moving up from NXT. The crowd helped a lot too.
Kevin Patrick interviewed Drew McIntyre and he said he has to win this match tonight. The last time he was in Texas, he won the Royal Rumble in 2020. McIntyre said we would all be happy if we never hear the term “ThunderDome” again. Tonight is his very last opportunity and his story tonight is rolling into MITB, breaking bones and becoming Mr. MITB.
WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley (champion) vs. Kofi Kingston
The audience was loudly chanting for Kofi when he entered. The announcers tried to compare this to WrestleMania 35 and Kingston winning the title from Daniel Bryan.
MVP grabbed Kingston’s foot when the bell rang. Lashley quickly took control and drove Kingston into the post on the floor.
Lashley destroyed Kingston and went for The Hurt Lock but Kingston broke free and was thrown across the ring.
Lashley hit the Dominator twice and received a “one more time” chant from some. So, Lashley hit a third Dominator and applied the Hurt Lock, and forced Kingston to tap.
WINNER: Bobby Lashley in 7 minutes and 36 seconds to retain the WWE Championship
This was one-sided destruction and just annihilated Kingston to build up Lashley for the bigger foe at SummerSlam. On one hand, it speaks volumes about the lack of babyface stars on the roster that you need to rely on a Bill Goldberg. On the other hand, this match was building Lashley to be the unbeatable monster because the bigger match is with Goldberg and that was the thinking.
Raw Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (champion) vs. Charlotte Flair
There was a brief chant of “We Want Becky”, Flair gave them the middle finger and the screen briefly went blank. The chant returned moments later but died quickly.
Ripley missed a cannonball off the apron and crashed on the floor.
Ripley threw Flair with a release Germans suplex but missed with a follow-up missile dropkick as Flair placed her in the Boston Crab that Ripley escaped.
Flair climbed to the top and was yanked down and led to Ripley grabbing the wrists and spinning Flair over for a dead-lift vertical suplex.
Ripley was sent to the floor and Flair hit the moonsault off the top turnbuckle. Ripley blocked Natural Selection and applied the inverted figure-four submission that Flair rolled out of. A Riptide was countered with a DDT by Flair for a big near fall.
Flair stopped a superplex by attacking the knee and hit a Natural Selection off the top for another near fall.
Ripley sent Flair into the corner and she appeared that she was supposed to hit her head on the turnbuckle but came up short. Flair caught Ripley, placed her knee between the steps, and stomped it over and over (this did not constitute a disqualification) before applying the Figure 8 inside the ring, and Ripley was forced to tap.
WINNER: Charlotte Flair in 16 minutes and 48 seconds to win the Raw Women’s Championship
This was a great match and overcompensated for a very rough program between the two.
Flair was tremendous and the audience enhanced the near falls by a significant degree and popped for the finish even though Flair was in the heel role but she’s a star and it was a great match.
Riddle met Rick Boogs and King Nakamura backstage. Riddle said Randy Orton is a big fan of Boogs although he’s never said that. Riddle started singing Orton’s theme as Boogs played along and Nakamura did Orton’s posing – they cut to Kevin Owens shaking his head.
This was right when tons of people were having issues with the Peacock stream.
Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Ricochet vs. Riddle vs. John Morrison vs. Kevin Owens vs. Big E. vs. King Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins
Ricochet is back in trunks. Morrison told The Miz he needs to do this on his own and sent him to the back.
Rollins argued with Morrison staying, “I’m the Drip God”. The crowd started chanting “Johnny Drip Drip” a few minutes later.
Ricochet launched into another area code when he flew to the floor, it looked unreal.
McIntyre and Big E. had a faceoff and built up to an exchange that ended with E spearing McIntyre off the apron to the floor.
Rollins and Morrison worked together and stacked a large ladder between the apron and announcer’s desk. Owens was limping on one leg and landed a quebrada going into a ladder that Morrison and Rollins were holding. They suplexed Owens onto the side of the ladder. Eventually, Rollins attacked Morrison with the ladder.
Riddle and Nakamura had a nice sequence ending with a double Claymore from McIntyre.
McIntyre followed with a tope con giro to everyone on the floor. McIntyre did the countdown and Claymore to Rollins and was alone in the ring when Veer and Shanky attacked McIntyre to prevent him from climbing the ladder. Jinder Mahal was on the floor and attacked McIntyre with repeated chair shots. They dragged him to the back.
Ricochet walked across the top rope, leaped onto the ladder, was tipped by Riddle, Ricochet balanced on the top rope and landed a dive to the floor. This was utterly spectacular.
Riddle hit the RKO to Big E., then yanked Ricochet off the ladder into an RKO in mid-air.
Nakamura climbed and was squirted by the Drip Stick. Owens yanked Morrison down and hit a stunner, another to Nakamura, and a pop-up powerbomb on Ricochet. Owens climbed and was stopped by Rollins, who attacked the knee and powerbombed Owens through the ladder bridge on the floor.
Rollins climbed, and Big E. followed and hit a Big Ending off the ladder. The audience roared as he went up the ladder and grabbed the briefcase.
WINNER: Big E. in 18 minutes and 4 seconds
It was a really strong ladder match and one of the better MITB ladder matches. Everyone worked super hard and they were all on.
The audience wanted Big E. and it was a sensational reaction for the finish and Big E. grabbing the briefcase.
There are too many spots to go over but Ricochet was out of this world, Owens was phenomenal with his selling and the biggest stunt of the match with the ladder bridge, Rollins and Morrison had a fun alliance, and the whole thing flowed and clicked for the time they had.
Seth Rollins was backstage selling the effects of the match. Kevin Patrick said he had a “valiant effort” and Rollins was pissed he lost, and it was his destiny and should have been in the WWE Championship match, which Edge stole from him. He needs a new plan and said whoever wins the Universal title match, “I’m next in line”.
WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (champion) vs. Edge
There were chants for both when the match began. It was a slow feeling out process for each over the opening minutes of the match.
Edge attacked the left arm and drove it into the post with Reigns taking a break on the floor. Paul Heyman asked Reigns “what would your father do?” and mentioned Sika.
Reigns took over and beat Edge down for a long time. There was a long headlock by Reigns that he threatened to hold onto “all night long”. Edge got to his feet and fought free but was dropped immediately with a strike.
Reigns hit the Drive-By and set up for the Superman Punch, Edge ducked and used a backslide for a two-count.
Edge ducks and drops Reigns, starts his comeback, and gets the audience riled up. Edge hit the Edge-ucution (Impaler DDT) for a two-count.
Reigns is hung upside down in the tree of woe and was stomped. Edge applied the crossface and Reigns made it to the rope.
Edge attempted the spear and was caught in a guillotine, but Edge drove both to the floor and was free.
Reigns missed a spear on the floor and crashed through the barricade. Edge followed with a spear putting Reigns through another barricade.
In the ring, Reigns landed a Superman Punch that knocked Edge into referee Charles Robinson.
Reigns broke off a piece of the chair, which has been Edge’s weapon of choice and attempted the crossface but Edge stopped him with head butts. So, Edge applied the crossface with the metal piece in his mouth.
The Usos came down and were attacked on the floor by Rey & Dominik Mysterio.
Seth Rollins appeared and superkicked Edge in the head from behind.
Reigns went for the spear, but Edge hits his spear first, another referee ran in for a massive near fall.
Rollins returned on the apron, Edge dropped him with a boot but turned around into a spear and Reigns pinned Edge.
WINNER: Roman Reigns in 33 minutes and 10 seconds to retain the WWE Universal Championship
Reigns and Rollins went face-to-face in the ring before Edge went after Rollins and attacked him on the floor and fought into the crowd.

Reigns and Heyman remained in the ring with Reigns saying that the whole world can acknowledge him.
John Cena’s music hit and the arena exploded.
Cena gave the “you can’t see me” to Reigns and the show went off the air.
