Hiroshi Tanahashi to meet winner of Archer vs. Hikuleo IWGP U.S. Title match

The winner of Lance Archer versus Hikuleo will defend the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi

The next challenger to the U.S. Title has stepped forward.

As AEW Fight For The Fallen was underway, a video package aired which saw former 8-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi stake his claim to an IWGP U.S. Title match. It was confirmed that Tanahashi will be the next challenger to the title holder.

Later at Fight For The Fallen, the current champion Lance Archer is going to defend against Hikuleo. Archer became a two-time U.S. Champion by defeating Jon Moxley in a Texas Deathmatch on night two of Fyter Fest.

The winner of the match is facing Tanahashi in Japan. Tanahashi was in action at NJPW Summer Struggle on 7/27.

He headlined Wrestle Grand Slam several days prior and challenged Shingo Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.
