Tanahashi versus Archer is official for NJPW Resurgence.
In two weeks on August 14th, New Japan Pro-Wrestling is presenting their Resurgence event from the L.A. Coliseum. The latest addition to the card is an IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Title match that will see the champion Lance Archer defend against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Tanahashi made a cameo appearance at AEW Fight For The Fallen and announced that he would be challenging the winner of the Archer versus Hikuleo U.S. Title match.

Also, Jon Moxley called out Tanahashi during his backstage segment at Fight For The Fallen. Moxley is being advertised for the L.A. Coliseum show.
Throughout his time in New Japan, Tanahashi has won the Heavyweight, Intercontinental, Tag Team, Openweight and 6-Man Tag Team Championships. This is going to be Tanahashi’s first shot at the U.S. Title.
