After several weeks of buildup, the match between Edge and Seth Rollins has been announced for SummerSlam later this month.

On the August 6th edition of SmackDown, Edge issued the challenge, which was ultimately accepted by Rollins after prodding by Edge, who referred to his upcoming opponent as “Edge lite” and was unable to fill his shoes.

It will be Edge’s first match at a SummerSlam event since 2010 when he was part of the 7-on-7 Elimination tag representing Team WWE against Nexus.

His first SummerSlam match occurred in August 1998 as a mystery partner for Sable against Marc Mero & Jacqueline at Madison Square Garden.

Edge and Rollins join the rematch between SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks, which was also confirmed for SummerSlam on Friday’s episode.

Below is the updated card:
*WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (champion) vs. John Cena
*WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley (champion) vs. Bill Goldberg
*SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (champion) vs. Sasha Banks
*Raw Women’s Championship: Nikki A.S.H. (champion) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley
*SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (champions) vs. Rey & Dominik Mysterio
*Edge vs. Seth Rollins
