Takashi Sugiura wins Zero1 World title, NOAH running Budokan Hall on Jan. 1

Pro Wrestling NOAH presented its ‘Kawasaki Go’ event on Sunday featuring a match between the GHC National Champion and Zero1 World Heavyweight Champion.

In the main event, National Champion Takashi Sugiura defeated Zero1 World Heavyweight Champion Masato Tanaka to claim both championships. The match lasted over 38 minutes with Sugiura winning with the Olympic Slam.

Tanaka held the Zero1 championship since New Year’s Day when he won the title from Hayato Tamura in Tokyo.

Sugiura is on his second reign as GHC National Champion after regaining the title this past April from Kazuyuki Fujita.

Sunday’s show in Kawasaki was scheduled to feature Naomichi Marufuji teaming with Keiji Muto, but Muto was removed as a COVID precaution.

NOAH made an announcement during the show that they will be running Budokan Hall on New Year’s Day 2022.
