Carmelo Hayes to meet Odyssey Jones in the Breakout Tournament final

The finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament are set for next Tuesday’s edition of the show as the eight-man tournament is down to two.

On the August 17th edition of NXT, Carmelo Hayes advanced to the final by defeating Duke Hudson after executing a leg drop off the top and covering Hudson.

It was announced after the match that Hayes will meet Odyssey Jones on the August 24th edition of NXT on the episode following TakeOver: 36.

Hayes defeated Josh Briggs and Hudson in the first two rounds while Jones advanced by defeating Andre Chase and Trey Baxter.

The two had a promo segment and a faceoff after Hayes’ victory to set up next week’s match.

This is the second Breakout Tournament in NXT history. The inaugural version took place in 2019 and was won by Jordan Myles a.k.a. ‘ACH’, who defeated Cameron Grimes in the final. The first version also featured Bronson Reed, Dexter Lumis, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Angel Garza, Joaquin Wilde, and Boa.
