The reigning IMPACT X Division Champion Josh Alexander successfully defended his title against the returning Jake Crist on the 9/2 IMPACT on AXS. After his victory, Alexander was confronted and challenged by Chris Sabin and a title match between the two was locked in for Victory Road on September 18th.

As the show began, IMPACT put up a graphic to commemorate the life of Shannon ‘Daffney’ Spruill who recently passed away.

Moose approached W. Morrissey during his backstage interview and proposed the idea of them establishing an alliance. Later in the show, Morrissey ambushed Eddie Edwards while Edwards was brawling with Moose.
In the main event, Ace Austin went one-on-one with Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer was defeated by Austin but had he won, he would’ve been added to the IMPACT World Title match between Ace and Christian Cage at Victory Road.
Scheduled for the 9/9 IMPACT on AXS is Steve Maclin versus Petey Williams along with Rich Swann vs. Karl Anderson in a Bunkhouse Brawl match.
