For the first time since March 2020, Brock Lesnar will appear on WWE television with the announcement of his appearance for next week’s episode of SmackDown.

During a segment on this week’s show, Heyman received a phone call with the ring tone of Lesnar’s theme. Later in the show, Heyman informed Roman Reigns that Lesnar would be coming to Friday Night SmackDown next week at Madison Square Garden.

After dropping the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36, Lesnar has not appeared in WWE until showing up unadvertised at SummerSlam following Reigns’ championship defense against John Cena.

It was reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Lesnar has signed a new deal with the company that calls for 8-12 matches.

Next week’s episode of SmackDown from Madison Square Garden is also set to feature a contract signing between SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair. WWE is also advertising an appearance by John Cena at the building, although it’s unknown if he will appear on SmackDown or just for the audience in attendance.

It was also confirmed that Edge and Seth Rollins will face off on SmackDown next week from Madison Square Garden in a rematch from SummerSlam.

After Rollins was disqualified against Cesaro, he attacked his foe with a chair and was about to deliver a Conchairto when Edge ran down for the save. Backstage, Edge issued a challenge for next week’s episode.
