Samoa Joe relinquishes NXT Championship “due to certain injuries”

WWE and Samoa Joe have announced that the NXT Champion is currently unable to wrestle due to injury and will be relinquishing the championship.

WWE and Samoa Joe have announced that the NXT Champion is currently unable to wrestle due to injury and will be relinquishing the championship.

The news was made Sunday night with a brief message posted by Joe stating that “due to certain injuries”, officials would like Joe to take a brief hiatus for an “indeterminate amount of time”.

Joe did not expand on the nature of the injuries or provide any details regarding his recovery process.

He said that with NXT entering its new era, it needed a fighting champion and will be relinquishing the title he won at TakeOver 36 on August 22nd from Karrion Kross.

Joe is a three-time NXT Champion and has not wrestled since the match with Kross last month. It was Joe’s first match since February 2020.
