Pete Dunne chooses to remain with WWE.

During the 9/14 edition of NXT, Pete Dunne is going to be one of four competitors that are competing for the vacant NXT Championship. Prior to tonight’s NXT going live on USA Network, it was reported by Fightful Select that Dunne has agreed to a new three-year deal with WWE.

The site noted that Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque personally offered Dunne the deal prior to being sidelined with his health issue. Dunne’s contract was set to expire at the end of August.

Dunne will share the ring with L.A. Knight, Kyle O’Reilly and Tommaso Ciampa in the NXT Championship match. The now-former champion Samoa Joe had to relinquish the title due to injuries.

Pete Dunne is the second-longest reigning NXT UK Champion of all-time behind WALTER. Throughout his time in WWE, Dunne has won the UK Title, NXT Tag Titles and the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic alongside Riddle.

Earlier this week, Fightful Select also reported that Johnny Gargano’s WWE deal is set to expire in December. Gargano is going to be a part of tonight’s show in the Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis wedding segment.
