A report from the Mas Lucha outlet is stating that WWE performer Gran Metalik has requested a release from his WWE contract.

Mas Lucha reported the following on Wednesday:

The Mexican wrestler Gran Metalik, who in Mexico we knew as Golden Mask, has asked the North American company WWE to release his contract due to lack of opportunities and a clear project within its ranks; This was confirmed to Más Lucha by sources close to the masked man from Guadalajara, who made his debut in the RAW brand in 2017.

Metalik is a sixteen-year veteran who gained international acclaim under the moniker Mascara Dorada in CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling prior to signing with WWE.

He was introduced as part of the Cruiserweight Classic in 2016 and assigned to 205 Live, which launched shortly after the tournament.

Gran Metalik is a member of Lucha House Party alongside Lince Dorado. The group had previously included Kalisto, who was released this past April. Metalik & Dorado were drafted to Raw during the 2020 Draft with Kalisto remaining on SmackDown.

He appeared on WWE Main Event last week alongside Dorado losing to Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo.
