The second week of NXT 2.0. resulted in a minor decrease, although held up better than expected after so much attention last week.
The September 21st episode averaged 746,000 viewers and 260,000 (0.20) in the 18-49 demographic, per Showbuzz Daily and Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics.
It finished 11th for the night on cable with viewership down 3 percent and the 18-49 number decreasing by 5.5 percent. The cable charts were led by Tucker Carlson with cable news occupying four of the top five slots. Deadliest Catch was second for the night on Discovery.
It’s a small note but this week’s NXT episode only had a three-minute overrun segment, which is the low end. Last week’s episode had a seven-minute overrun.
This week saw an increase among NXT’s female audience with 18-49s increasing 23 percent and 12-34s jumping from 0.06 to 0.09. It was among male viewers that the show was hurt with men 18-49 down by 17 percent and males 12-34 dropping by 15 percent. The adult 25-54 demo fell by 8 percent.
It was still a healthy number for NXT. Throwing out last week, you would have to go back to May 4th for a higher viewership average and it was NXT’s second-best 18-49 number since April 27th.
In Canada, the episode took a dramatic hit falling to 45,600 viewers and 25,800 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360, its lowest figures since June. The show did finish among the top ten sports broadcasts for the evening, which was led by the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays that topped one million viewers. Last week’s NXT in Canada averaged 92,500 and 38,700 in 25-54, so it was a steep decline.
