AAA has confirmed that its Mega Championship is officially vacant after Kenny Omega was unable to wrestle at TripleMania Regia.

AAA has confirmed that its Mega Championship is officially vacant after Kenny Omega was unable to wrestle at TripleMania Regia.

Dorian Roldan of AAA made the announcement on Monday and stating that El Hijo del Vikingo would challenge for the title with more news to come.

Omega was scheduled to defend the title against El Hijo del Vikingo at the event on December 4th in Monterrey but is taking time off to address several lingering injuries.

After losing the AEW Championship to Hangman Page, it was reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that Omega was having minor surgeries on his shoulder, knee, abdomen, and possibly on his septum.

Omega had been the champion since October 19, 2019, when he beat Rey Fenix at Heroes Inmortales XIII just weeks after Dynamite premiered on TNT.
