Gargano will still be a free agent in early December.

It was made official at the conclusion of the 11/23 NXT 2.0 that Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne, L.A. Knight and NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa are taking on Bron Breakker, Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller and North American Champion Carmelo Hayes at NXT WarGames on 12/5.

Back in September, Fightful Select was first to report that Gargano’s WWE contract expired on December 3rd. The site provided an update and noted that Gargano recently signed a short-term extension to remain with the company until December 10th.

Adam Cole signed a short-term extension with WWE this past summer to cap off his rivalry with Kyle O’Reilly before joining All Elite Wrestling.

Fightful Select added that there are ongoing discussions between Gargano and WWE and they have spoken highly of Gargano for choosing to sign the extension while he’s in the middle of a program.

Gargano headlined the latest NXT 2.0. He was involved in a three-way with Pete Dunne and Carmelo Hayes for Hayes’ North American Title. Hayes pinned Gargano to retain.
