Katsuyori Shibata will have a match at Wrestle Kingdom 16.

The 42-year old entered the ring at Sumo Hall on Wednesday to make his announcement, stating he has a match on that date, but no opponent was named.

Shibata’s career was cut short after an April 2017 match inside the same arena against Kazuchika Okada. A head butt between the two resulted in Shibata suffering a subdural hematoma and undergoing emergency brain surgery.

In the years that followed, he has become a trainer for the company and made an unadvertised return this past October for a grappling exhibition match against Zack Sabre Jr. on the final night of the G1 Climax.
