All Japan Pro Wrestling will be welcoming the newest addition to their talent roster, Yuma Anzai, who is a member of the wrestling team at Chuo University in Japan. Anzai is set to join the All Japan roster next spring. He was scouted by former 7-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion Suwama.

Anzai is scheduled to appear at All Japan’s January 2nd show at Korakuen Hall to formally announce that he is joining the company. Both Suwama and Anzai spoke to Tokyo Sports about the news and Suwama feels that the college athlete has the presence of a future star.

Suwama: I’ve heard since last year or so that there are good wrestlers here [Chuo University]. I’ve been hearing about a good fighter since last year or so. With his neat face and strong muscles, he already has the air of a future star.

Yuma became aware of pro wrestling while in junior high school. Soon after, he became interested and realized that wrestling was something he wanted to pursue.

Anzai: When I was in the second year of junior high school, I happened to watch a late-night pro wrestling broadcast and was amazed at how cool the world [of wrestling] was. I realized that there was such a cool world out there, and I started to want to wrestle.

He was eligible to compete at the 2021 All Japan Championships for freestyle wrestling but opted not to participate because he wanted to focus on his pro wrestling training.
