One-night tournament announced to crown a new champion.

All Japan Pro Wrestling had to vacate the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship last week after it was deemed that the champion Jake Lee could not compete due to his injuries. Lee suffered a fractured nasal bone and a fracture of the medial wall of the left orbit during a match with Ryuki Honda.

A new champion will be crowned on January 23rd at AJPW’s ‘New Year Wars’ show at Korakuen Hall. There is going to be a one-night tournament to determine the 65th Triple Crown Champion. Suwama is going one-on-one with Kento Miyahara and on the other side of the bracket is Shotaro Ashino versus Ryuki Honda.

Prior to Jake Lee having to vacate the Triple Crown, Suwama was in possession of the title but he had to vacate it as well due to COVID-19. Suwama defeated Miyahara for the belt which ended Miyahara’s near two-year reign as champion.
