Ren Narita answers the challenge and Shibata gets the win.
Coming into night one of Wrestle Kingdom 16, it was not known who Katsuyori Shibata would be taking on in his Catch Rules match. NJPW L.A. Dojo trainee Ren Narita answered the challenge and back in 2019, Narita requested to train under Shibata at the L.A. Dojo opposed to fulfilling his Young Lion training and duties in Japan.
Before Shibata and Narita’s match got underway, Shibata grabbed a microphone and said their match is going to be a traditional singles match opposed to Catch Rules.
Shibata scored the win over Narita in his first traditional singles match since 2017. Back in October, Shibata returned to the ring and competed in a UWF rules exhibition against Zack Sabre Jr.
