Dragon Gate announces that YAMATO and Naruko Doi have tested positive for Coronavirus

Two talents from Dragon Gate contract COVID-19.

As Dragon Gate was gearing up for their January 22nd show in Kobe, Japan and their event on the 23rd, the promotion announced that YAMATO and Naruki Doi tested positive for COVID-19.

Both talents are currently in recovery and are off the upcoming shows. Those that have been in close contact with them will be absent from the events as well. Talents who competed at the 1/22 show and are scheduled for 1/23 are undergoing PCR and antigen tests to determine if they can compete. Dragon Gate wrote the following statement on their website:

We would like to inform you that two of our athletes, YAMATO and Naruki Doi, have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Both athletes are currently undergoing treatment under the guidance of the public health center.

As a result, both fighters and those in close contact with them will be absent from the January 22 (Sat.) Kobe and January 23 (Sun.) Matsusaka, Japan [events].

For those who do not fall into this category, we will confirm the results of the PCR and antigen tests before making a final decision on whether or not they will be able to participate in the [events].

DRAGON GATE will continue to take measures to prevent infectious diseases and check the health of the [wrestlers] and staff more thoroughly than ever before, and will make every effort to manage the [events] so that all visitors can watch the event safely and with peace of mind.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our fans and other related parties.

YAMATO’s reign as Open The Dream Gate Champion ended on 12/26 and on that same day, Naruki Doi and his partner lost the Open The Twin Gate Titles.
