NXT 2.0 notes: Semifinals of men’s Dusty Classic, Diamond Mine vs. Imperium, Ciampa-Breakker

The men's Dusty Classic tournament continues to unfold, Diamond Mine to meet Imperium, Tommaso Ciampa helps Bron Breakker with Legado

The men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is inching towards its end as the semifinal rounds are locked in. MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) bested Jacket Time (KUSHIDA & Ikemen Jiro) to secure their spot in the semifinals. Next up for MSK is Edris Enofe and Malik Blade.

Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) defeated Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward to advance to the Dusty Classic semifinals. Gibson and Drake will meet Diamond Mine’s Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) in the next round.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker went face-to-face with Santos Escobar and alerted Escobar that he is ready to accept his challenge. Escobar responded by saying he’ll issue the challenge on his own time. It was announced that on 2/1, Breakker would have to find a partner to take on Legado Del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde. Legado attempted to catch Breakker off guard in the parking lot but Tommaso Ciampa came to his aid. Breakker defeated Ciampa for the NXT Title at New Year’s Evil.

Scheduled for the 2/1 program is a six-man tag that will see Imperium (Gunther, Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) take on Diamond Mine (Roderick Strong, Julius & Brutus Creed). In addition to that match, Cora Jade is going one-on-one with Raquel Gonzalez. Jade has been trying to convince Gonzalez to team with her in the women’s Dusty Classic which starts in February.

After Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward lost their Dusty Classic tournament match, they were ambushed by Von Wagner. Wagner was flanked by Robert Stone, who he is officially aligned with as of the 1/25 show.

Solo Sikoa and Boa met in a Falls Count Anywhere match and Solo emerged victorious after hitting a splash onto Boa through a table.

Duke Hudson had his first singles match since December on tonight’s show. He scored a win over Guru Raaj. Post-match, Hudson brawled with Dante Chen. Hudson made his return to NXT 2.0 last week and went after Chen and Raaj during their match. During the scuffle tonight between Hudson and Dante tonight, Hudson went after Dante’s knee which is part of the reason he had been out of action.
