Francesco Akira no longer competing at 16 Carat Gold weekend.

wXw Germany is scheduled to present their 16 Carat Gold weekend of shows beginning on March 4th and concluding on March 6th. The former All Japan Junior Heavyweight Champion Francesco Akira was scheduled to be a part of the 16 Carat tournament but he is no longer competing due to injury.

In a now deleted tweet, Akira wrote a statement and shared that he’s been dealing with a lingering knee issue and is opting to undergo surgery. He suffered the injury three months ago while wrestling in Italy and initially took a month off to recover because he didn’t think he needed surgery. He wrestled several more times but his knee progressively got worse and he soon discovered that he broke a piece of cartilage. He expects to be out of action for one month or two.

As of this writing, here’s the updated field of talents for 16 Carat: Ace Romero, Aigle Blanc, Biff Busick, Bobby Gunns, Cara Noir, Fuminori Abe, Jonathan Gresham, LuFisto, Maggot, Michael Knight, Robert Dreissker, Senza Volto, Shigehiro Irie and Vincent Heisenberg.
