Episode #20 of the Long & Winding Royal Road brings us another biography, this time with the person referred to as the “Fifth Pillar” in Jun Akiyama.
WH Park is joined by former podcasting partner JoJo Remy, who is a long-time fan of Akiyama’s.
WH and JoJo look at Akiyama’s university wrestling days and how they led to him being scouted by Giant Baba. From there, they discuss his alliances and rivalries with Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Takao Omori and others.
This episode covers Akiyama’s entire initial run in All Japan, his peak in Pro Wrestling NOAH, his return to AJPW and his current time in DDT.
A very fun conversation between two friends who are big fans of this incredible wrestler.
