SANADA becomes IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion at NJPW Golden Series

For the first time in his New Japan Pro-Wrestling run, SANADA has become a singles champion

SANADA now has singles gold in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Headlining the 2/19 NJPW Golden Series show was an IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Title match between the champion Hiroshi Tanahashi and the challenger SANADA. The final image of the night was SANADA holding the U.S. Heavyweight Title in his hands as he defeated the now-former champion.

This is SANADA’s first singles title win in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He has been a part of the company since 2016 and had only obtained tag team accolades and titles up until this point.

Tanahashi’s reign as U.S. Heavyweight Champion began on night two of Wrestle Kingdom 16 where he bested KENTA.
