Kota Ibushi returns at NJPW’s 50th Anniversary card, will compete in New Japan Cup

The return of Kota Ibushi and several legends will highlight New Japan Pro Wrestling’s 50th Anniversary next week at Budokan Hall.

The return of Kota Ibushi and several legends will highlight New Japan Pro Wrestling’s 50th Anniversary next week at Budokan Hall.

At Monday’s press conference, the card was revealed including the news that Ibushi would participate in an eight-man tag on March 1st at the anniversary special.

Ibushi has not wrestled since October when he suffered a match-ending shoulder injury after a Phoenix Splash off the top during the final against Kazuchika Okada. The match was stopped due to injury with Ibushi on the sidelines for the past four months.

Ibushi will team with Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata against Will Ospreay, Jeff Cobb, Great O-Khan & Aaron Henare of the United Empire.

Ibushi is also set to compete in the 48-man New Japan Cup, which begins the following night in the same venue. Ibushi will square off with Great O-Khan in the opening round of the tournament on Sunday, March 6th in Fukushima.

The card will stream at 3 a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 1st with the following matches announced:
*Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Minoru Suzuki, Zack Sabre Jr. & Yoshiaki Fujiwara
*Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI vs. Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato
*Shiro Koshinaka, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma vs. SANADA, Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI
*Kota Ibushi, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata vs. Will Ospreay, Jeff Cobb, Great O-Khan & Aaron Henare
*CIMA, T-Hawk & El Lindaman vs. El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru & DOUKI
