Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was arrested after being involved in a Bay Area shooting

Velasquez booked on an attempted murder charge, per report.

NBC Bay Area was first to report the news that former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was involved in a shooting in Morgan Hill, California. Circumstances surrounding the shooting have yet to be released but one man was shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Velasquez was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and is being held on no bail. TMZ confirmed that Velasquez was booked on an attempted murder charge. As of this writing, Velasquez is still in police custody and has a court date on March 2nd.

His last pro MMA fight was in February of 2019 against Francis Ngannou. Six months after that fight, Velasquez made his pro wrestling debut at AAA’s Triplemania show.

He would then go on to sign with WWE and challenged Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship in Saudi Arabia. Velasquez was released from the company in April of 2020. He wrestled this past December at Triplemania Regia.
