New details have emerged regarding the arrest of Cain Velasquez after a shooting occurred in the Bay Area on Monday afternoon that left one man wounded with non-life-threatening injuries.
Velasquez, 39, was arrested on Monday for suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man, who was transported to a hospital.
The San Jose Mercury-News has a report that states Velasquez allegedly shot at a vehicle containing three individuals, one of whom had been accused of molesting a child, who is a relative of Velasquez’s and whose identity is being protected.
The man accused of committing sexual abuse with a minor is 43-year old Harry Eugene Goularte, who was facing a felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14. He had been arraigned this past Friday was granted a supervised release despite objections from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, per the report.
Goularte lives at home with his mother, who runs a daycare.
On Monday, Velasquez allegedly opened fire at the vehicle containing Goularte, his stepfather, and a third individual with the stepfather being the one wounded.
Velasquez is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday and declined an interview with the San Jose Mercury-News regarding the situation.

Velasquez is a former UFC heavyweight champion that fought with the promotion from 2008 until 2019 and later became a professional wrestler where he worked for AAA and WWE.
