News coverage continued to dominate Wednesday’s ratings as AEW Dynamite finished in the eighth spot among cable originals going into Sunday’s pay-per-view.

The March 2nd episode of the show billed around a major announcement from Tony Khan, averaged 966,000 viewers and approximately 460,000 (0.35) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

It saw the show drop four percent in viewership and declined 11 percent in the 18-49 demographic compared with last week’s numbers. Women in the demo fell by 16.5 percent while men dropped by nine percent.

The cable chart was led by the NBA game between the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, which averaged 1,444,000 viewers and 0.47 in 18-49. Sixteen of the top twenty cable programs were news programs as the ongoing invasion of Ukraine continues with wall-to-wall coverage.

In the 18-34 demo, the drop was minimal with a five percent decline while adults 35-49 fell by 14.5 percent.

In Canada, Dynamite fell 10.5 percent with 135,200 viewers while averaging 83,300 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2.
