WWE’s return to Madison Square Garden was built around Brock Lesnar’s WWE championship defense against an unknown opponent.
After going so far to shoot an angle on television for the live event, Lesnar’s final title defense before WrestleMania was against Austin Theory.

Originally, Bobby Lashley was advertised to face Lesnar on the show but it was known he was legitimately injured with the explanation on the February 21st edition of WWE Raw that Lashley was unlikely to face Lesnar at The Garden.
Theory came out for the main event of the show and was destroyed by Lesnar with the match ending with an F-5 by the champion.
Roman Reigns showed up and hit Lesnar with a Superman Punch before taking several German suplexes as Lesnar fought off Reigns and The Usos. Lesnar put his focus on Paul Heyman allowing Reigns to return and attack with a chair. This led to a beatdown that saw Lesnar bleed and was hit with a Uranage onto the steel steps as Reigns posed with both belts.
