WWE adds Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory to second night of WrestleMania

On Friday, it was announced that Pat McAfee would face Austin Theory at WrestleMania and is the match WWE is currently promoting.

We are still awaiting confirmation but were told that Friday’s angle where Theory issued the challenge was not the initial plan.

The main question is what Vince McMahon’s involvement will be and if he’s still scheduled to be part of the match. The original plan was McAfee vs. McMahon with the expectation that Theory would be utilized and use lots of smoke and mirrors, given that McMahon is 76-years old.

Last Monday, it was hinted on Raw of Theory showing up for the interview segment on The Pat McAfee Show, but instead, no angle was shot, and McMahon just offered McAfee a spot on the WrestleMania card.

On its own, McAfee vs. Theory isn’t a big match and one would assume McMahon as the vital part of the equation.

The company has stated that the match between McAfee and Theory will take place on Sunday, April 3rd on the second night of WrestleMania at AT&T Stadium.

The match joins Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville on the second night.
