Rampage notes: Jeff Hardy Appears, Swerve Strickland Debuts
By: Dave LeClair
AEW Rampage aired as a taped show with Swerve Strickland making his in-ring debut, Darby Allin battling Marc Quinn, an appearance by Jeff Hardy, and more.
Match Results:
- Darby Allin defeated Marc Quen via submission
- Jamie Hayter defeated Mercedes Martinez after Baker and Rebel interfered
- Keith Lee defeated QT Marshall
- Swerve Strickland defeated Tony Nese
The show kicked off with Darby Allin taking on Marc Quinn. The two had a great match, which Darby won. After the match, the A.F.O. (they kept the same name, but dropped the H) came out with bad intentions, but the Hardy Boyz came out and scared the A.F.O. off.
Mercedes Martinez and Jamie Hayter had a match with Britt Baker and Rebel in Hayter’s corner. As you might expect, Baker and Rebel got involved leading to Hayter scoring the win. After the match, Hayter, Baker, and Rebel were setting up to attack Martinez, but Thunder Rosa made the save with a chair.
After a Hikaru Shida promo and a commercial break, Keith Lee made his way to the ring to face QT Marshall, who was already in the ring. Keith Lee beat QT Marshall despite distractions from Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solo. Lee destroyed both when they attacked him after the match, but was then laid out by Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks.
They announced Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley vs. Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta has been added to next week’s episode of Dynamite.
Following the Mark Henry segment where Tony Nese cut a solid promo about the lack of fanfare when he debuted, Nese and Swerve Strickland competed in the main event. Nese took most of the match, which gave Swerve a chance to show off his selling. Swerve eventually won with a double stomp from the top rope.
