Mustafa Ali gets a win and is then ambushed by Ciampa.
This past January, Mustafa Ali took to social media and shared the news that he requested his release from WWE. Ali had not wrestled for the company since October 2021 and on tonight’s Raw in Knoxville, Tennessee, he returned to TV during a segment involving The Miz and United States Champion Theory.
Ali initially lobbied for a singles match against Theory but ended up taking on The Miz and defeating him. Prior to the match taking place, both Miz and Theory made jokes about Ali “taking his ball and going home” and asking him if he still worked for the company.
As Ali was near the entrance celebrating his victory, he was ambushed by Tommaso Ciampa.

Ciampa was officially added to the Raw roster several weeks ago coming off of his final NXT match at Stand & Deliver.
