During the UFC 274 broadcast, it was announced that Daniel Cormier will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this year.

Cormier was a two-division champion in the UFC and winner of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.

He represented the U.S. in freestyle wrestling at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games – finishing fourth in Athens and being pulled from the Beijing Olympics due to kidney failure due to weight cutting.

He made his MMA debut in 2009 and joined Strikeforce after four fights.

After starting his career at heavyweight, he would start at the weight class in the UFC in 2013 before a move down to light heavyweight. He would win the vacant title at 205-pounds in May 2015 beating Anthony Johnson after the belt was vacated by his greatest rival, Jon Jones.

The two fought twice in January 2015 and July 2017 with Jones winning both fights, although the second fight was changed to a no-contest after Jones failed his drug test and the title was returned to Cormier.

In 2018, he returned to heavyweight and defeated Stipe Miocic for the championship at UFC 226 and lost it back to Miocic in August 2019.

In his final fight, he lost the rubber match to Miocic by unanimous decision at UFC 252 in August 2020.
