Ric Flair confirms in-ring return for July 31 in Nashville

Ric Flair has confirmed he will be wrestling one more match this summer in conjunction with the Starrcast convention in Nashville.

Last week, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Flair is training for another match following online videos of Flair working out in a ring with AEW performer Jay Lethal.

Flair confirmed to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that he will wrestle on Sunday, July 31st at the Nashville Fairgrounds:

I’m going to walk that aisle one last time to prove once and for all that to be the Man, you’ve got to beat the Man.

The event will stream on FITE TV on Sunday, July 31st at 6:05 p.m. ET following the Starrcast V convention on the Fairgrounds, which runs from July 29-31.

Flair, 73, will be wrestling for the first time in eleven years and comes after the Hall of Fame performer nearly died in 2017 after requiring surgery on his bowel and suffered kidney failure and was in the hospital for over a month.

Flair’s latest association with WWE ended last August – weeks later, an episode of Dark Side of the Ring covered the May 2002 “Plane Ride from Hell” where flight attendant Heidi Doyle made allegations about Flair’s actions on the flight – including walking around naked on the plane and alleged that Flair made her touch his genitals.

Flair issued a response after the episode aired and denied the allegation of forcing himself on anyone.

The match will be promoted under the banner of ‘Jim Crockett Promotions’ with the following press release issued on Monday:

On July 31st, at 6:05pm EDT, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, who many consider the greatest professional wrestler of all-time, is set to return to the ring, one final time, as part of “Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match” wrestling event. Taking place at the world famous Nashville Fairgrounds, the 16-time former World Heavyweight Champion will don a new custom-made robe and bring the one-of-a-kind showmanship that has made Flair a cultural icon for his over-40 years in the professional wrestling business.

“I’m going to walk that aisle, one last time to prove once and for all, that to be the Man, you’ve got to beat the Man,” said Flair.

Under the banner of Jim Crockett Promotions, “Ric Flair’s Last Match” will be produced by Thuzio, a Triller Company, and will be streaming worldwide, exclusively on FITE.

Tickets’ for “Ric Flair’s Last Match,” will go on sale Friday, May 27th at 12pm EDT at RicFlairsLastMatch.com. Preordering the event on FITE will also go live at 12pm EDT on May 27th.

Flair’s opponent, as well as the entire card, will be announced at a later date.
