A film about the Von Erich family is in the works.
In January of 2020, it was reported by Deadline that Sean Durkin was piecing together a script about the rise and fall of the Von Erich family. The publication provided a follow up on that report and noted that the film is going to be titled ‘The Iron Claw’.
The movie will be financed and produced by A24 Films. Durkin is writing and directing and Zac Efron is set to star in ‘The Iron Claw’. Alongside A24 in the producer positions are Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman. Here is the synopsis for the project:
Based on the true story of the Von Erichs, the film follows the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day.
Kevin Von Erich’s children, Marshall and Ross are currently a part of Major League Wrestling. They are the longest-reigning Tag Team Champions in the organization’s history.
