Khan hoping that AEW can continue creating with Warner Bros. Discovery.

While at the Collision Conference in Toronto, Canada, POST Wrestling’s own John Pollock caught up with AEW President Tony Khan for an interview.

With the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show just days away from when the interview was recorded, Khan spoke about collaborating with New Japan Pro-Wrestling booker Gedo to put together the match card. He said they both have great and intelligent people surrounding them.

Well I think we [Khan & Gedo] both have great offices. Gedo has Rocky Romero and a number of very intelligent people that work with him in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. I have a great office and a lot of smart people that work with me, but it is primarily myself and Gedo and the two of us have both put forward the top wrestlers from AEW and many top wrestlers from New Japan Pro-Wrestling and they’re gonna come together on Sunday for a great pay-per-view event.

To wrap up the discussion, Khan touched on AEW’s U.S. media rights and said he will be leading those conversations when it comes time to negotiate.

Khan added that he’s had great discussions with those at Warner Bros. Discovery and thinks they can continue to expand internationally and venture into streaming and reality TV.

Yeah, I will be [leading the talks for AEW’s U.S. Media rights deal] and I have had great conversations with the people at Warner Bros. Discovery about the partnership and I’m very happy with our great partnership and the new management that’s come in from Discovery has great expertise in many areas including streaming which is an area where I believe we can expand our partnership in addition to the great television we put on every week with Wednesday night Dynamite on TBS every week and Friday night Rampage on TNT and we can expand, I think, internationally together and also, as I said, there’s opportunities in streaming and also reality TV which is one of the incredible core competencies where Discovery is a worldwide leader. So a lot of great opportunities together for the future, hopefully for a really, really long time with AEW and Warner Bros. and Discovery.

Following Forbidden Door, John Pollock and Wai Ting will be live with their POST-show and in addition to that, there is going to be written coverage of the event on the site.
