DDT held its biggest card of the year on Saturday with its annual Wrestle Peter Pan event that saw a new DDT Universal champion crowned.

The event drew 1,250 fans to Ota City General Gymnasium for a card headlined by Kazusada Higuchi retaining the promotion’s KO-D Openweight Championship against Tetsuya Endo, using the brain claw slam in 25:54 to retain.

Higuchi became the champion in early July, winning the title that had been vacated by Endo the previous month due to a concussion he sustained.

Higuchi won the King of DDT tournament to crown a new champion and defeated Naomi Yoshimura in the finals.

Saturday’s event also saw the DDT Universal title switch hands as Yuki Ueno secured the title by defeating Masahiro Takanashi in 14:26 and becoming a two-time champion. Takanashi won the belt this past June from Mao.

Ueno previously held the title from November 2020 until August 2021.

In a 25th Anniversary special six-man tag, the returning Konosuke Takeshita teamed with MAO & Yasu Urano to defeat Dick Togo, Daisuke Sasaki & KANON in 20:41.

After winning the DDT Extreme title over the past week, Joey Janela made his first defense of the belt at Peter Pan, beating Shunma Katsumata with a Death Valley Driver off a ladder and through a barbed-wire board in 18:56.
