Friday Night SmackDown Notes: Drew McIntyre Defeats Sami Zayn and Gets Decimated by The Bloodline

Little Caesar’s Arena – Detroit, MI
The show opened with Ricochet beating Happy Corbin clean with a shooting star press. After the match, the commentary team emphasized that Corbin is in a downward spiral.
The Street Profits ran into Hit Row in the backstage area and they all walked off together.
A promo aired highlighting Drew McIntyre’s UK heritage and history with WWE. Afterwards, Karrion Kross and Scarlett appeared and teasing that Kross could take McIntyre out at any time.
Natalya & Sonya Deville won a Last Chance Fatal Four Way Tag Team Match between all the previous losers of the Women’s tag team tournament. They would advance to face Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah later in the night.
A promo package aired highlighting Shayna Baszler leading up to her match with Liv Morgan at Clash at the Castle.
An in-ring promo Sheamus and the Brawling Brutes was interrupted by Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser. Butch, Ridge Holland and Kaiser brawled while Sheamus and Gunther stared each other down.
Natalya & Sonya Deville were interviewed backstage. During the segment Nikki ASH and Doudrop were seen arguing in the background.
Sami Zayn was let into The Bloodline’s locker room and sat with Roman Reigns. Reigns said that he appreciated what Zayn did for him last week. He then asked Zayn to take out Drew later tonight.
Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah defeated Natalya & Sonya Deville to advance in the Women’s Tag Team Tournament. Afterwards Dakota Kai and Io Sky who were at ringside with Bayley on commentary confronted Rodriquez & Aliyah.
A Maximum Male Models photo shoot was interrupted by Hit Row’s theme blasting in a nearby tour bus in the backstage area. Maxxine went and retrieved Los Lotharios and in the following segment the group was spray painting “Hit Row Sucks” on the bus. Hit Row approached and said that it was time to take this to the ring. They then revealed it wasn’t their bus as The Street Profits emerged and MMM and Los Lotharios ran off.
The New Day appeared in the ring with Xavier in a wheelchair and admitted they had underestimated The Viking Raiders. The Raiders interrupted and Xavier revealed he was not injured and was hiding two kendo sticks. The New Day fought off The Viking Raiders.
A second Drew McIntyre promo package aired highlighting Drew’s redemption arc in WWE and the Reigns/McIntyre feud.
Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn despite distractions from The Usos. After the match Roman Reigns attacked McIntyre. Drew held his own with all three members of The Bloodline until Reigns hit McIntyre with a spear. The Usos used chairs repeatedly on Drew and then Sami joined in with a Helluva kick. The show went off the air with Roman literally sitting in a chair atop McIntyre stating “I want someone to take this from me. Take it!”
