The upcoming ‘AEW Fight Forever’ game impressed a panel of judges enough to win Best Sports/Racing Game at the Gamescom 2022 convention in Cologne, Germany.

Earlier in the week at the five-day convention, the public was shown gameplay footage, and a playable demo was made available to those in attendance.

Developers THQ Nordic and Yuke’s reportedly have aimed for a retro gameplay experience reminiscent of ‘WWF No Mercy’, which was released in 2000.

Although still in development, the convention’s panel of judges today awarded the title Best Sports/Racing Game, with Colt Cabana and Evil Uno on hand to collect the prize.

Gamescom bills itself as the world’s largest gaming event, measured by its exhibition space and number of visitors. ‘AEW Fight Forever’ is listed by its developers as “coming soon”.
