AEW Rampage Notes: Claudio Retains, Sammy Guevara Advances in Title Tournament

The show began with Sammy Guevara defeating Darby Allin in the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions. Guevara won after Anna Jay interfered allowing Tay Melo to hit a low blow on Allin. That led to a powerbomb by Guevara onto the underside of Darby’s skateboard followed up by the GTH. Sammy advances to face Jon Moxley this Wednesday on Dynamite.
A Samoa Joe in-ring promo was interrupted by Smart Mark Sterling with Josh Alexander and Tony Nese. Joe said he would put up his ROH Television Championship against Josh Woods right here and now. Mark Sterling shot him down and said that they would do it in a much better NY town – Albany next week on Rampage.
A Miro promo package asking God to admit that he was wrong and asked him to “belt the Redeemer now”.
Powerhouse Will Hobbs was interviewed backstage and proclaimed that he would now be opening “The Book of Hobbs” and that he is a “Mon-star”.
Claudio Castagnoli defeated Dax Harwood with the Sharpshooter.
