** While Chavo Guerrero Jr. was with AEW, he was paired on-screen with Andrade El Idolo. As a conversation about Guerrero Jr.’s time in AEW was taking place during the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, it was stated by a co-host that Guerrero Jr. took some spotlight from Andrade and Chavo weighed in on that:

It’s hard, you know? We’ve been in the game a while, we know some good tricks and like I said, I had some really good teachers so, it’s hard for us sometimes not to steal — try to steal the spotlight and just to take a step back because we’re so used to being larger than life and just put the camera on and let me take over [Chavo responded to the notion that he took spotlight away from Andrade El Idolo during their stint together in AEW]. So I hear you, I hear you on that. People have told me that.

He then further spoke about his communication with Tony Khan prior to him deciding to return for season two of NBC’s Young Rock series. Guerrero Jr. reiterated that Khan was fine with him going back and they had plans mapped out for Chavo’s AEW return.

You know, being involved with wrestling is always really cool so that all came about where Tony [Khan] brought me in. It was kind of on a daily type thing. I was doing stuff with Andrade [El Idolo] and I got the — I didn’t know when I was going back to Young Rock. Season two called and said, ‘Hey, okay, we have our dates. This is when we’re coming back’ and so I had to talk to Tony. I said, ‘Look, I know we’re doing well here but you know, you think you can match what they’re paying? I think it’s probably better for me to go do this’ so he goes, ‘No problem, no problem. Okay, so let’s write you out of a storyline really quick’ and I had Andrade turn on me and then we had all the plans of me coming back. I mean up until two or three weeks of me coming back, of me leaving Young Rock, we were still talking on the phone and then, like Tony does, he went silent. So he went silent, I said, okay, what’s going on? I was gonna come back and pick up right where we left off and it just didn’t happen so…

** Episode #132 of Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore Podcast features Taylor Wilde as the guest. In the early 2000s, Wilde was in WWE developmental (Deep South Wrestling). She talked about how physically and mentally draining of an experience that was. Wilde recounted having to weigh in every week and if a talent gained weight, they had to explain why. She feels she was fighting against her natural body back then.

[WWE] developmental took a real toll on me mentally and physically, especially during that time… and during that era — you couldn’t get away with it now or they style it a little bit different and frame it different but like, we were weighing in every week and if you gained weight, you had to explain why. I’m like, I don’t know. I ate a f*cking burrito [Wilde laughed]. Like, back off! But, you’re already not mentally healthy with that because back then, it wasn’t — like now, women’s fitness… fit is the new skinny. It is sexy to be muscular. Back then, I was fighting against my natural body. I was just trying to get smaller and skinnier and like, I am little and heavy and muscular. I am a Polish stump puller. My body was meant to do what I do but I was fighting against it.

** While WWE was in Cardiff, Wales for Clash at the Castle, Inside The Ropes sat down with Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair for an interview. She discussed the bond that she and Becky Lynch have formed throughout the story they’ve told dating back to SummerSlam 2021. Belair says Lynch made her a bigger superstar.

I did, I did [bond with Becky Lynch throughout this story we’ve told]. Becky Lynch, she’s an amazing person inside the ring, outside the ring. No other better person to learn from. I feel like I’ve had so much growth just by working with her and she’s helped me tremendously even through the whole story of, you know, at first, 26 seconds, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, your momentum’s completely gone’ and actually, Becky Lynch has made me a bigger superstar. Becky is someone, she shows up, she shows out. She steps in, she stands up no matter what’s on the line and she makes sure that women are at the forefront of everything and make sure these titles are always represented no matter what and I’ve learned so much from her inside and outside the ring and I’ve definitely bonded with her.

Prior to her winning the 2021 women’s Royal Rumble, there was a segment on SmackDown when Belair had to do an obstacle course and had to lift Otis onto her shoulders and run to the finish line. Belair said she was more nervous for that than she would be for a WrestleMania match because of the small margin for error.

So I was so nervous [for the obstacle course/picking up Otis]. Oh my goodness, I was so nervous for that whole entire obstacle course. Like more nervous than I would have been for a WrestleMania match because it’s live TV, I’m jumping hurdles, I’m supposed to be ‘The EST’. What if I trip? What do I do now? How do fix this? I can’t be ‘The EST’ anymore. I have to just go away and come back as something new and then having to pick up Otis, I’m like, what!? Okay, I know I’m The EST. People come to me with ideas all the time like, ‘You can do it.’ I’m like, ‘You think I can do that?’ But it was a thing of my adrenaline was just pumping and I’m like, I have to do it, I’m the strongest. This is the way that I have to show that I’m the strongest, I’m new and I’m new on the scene and that was fun but, Otis is not a light guy [Belair laughed].

After Belair defeated Becky Lynch at this year’s SummerSlam, the trio now known as ‘Damage CTRL’ (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) arrived. Belair said she was excited like everyone else was and felt the moment was going to be good when she heard the crowd reaction to Bayley’s music.

It was really cool [Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY appearing at SummerSlam] and I mean SummerSlam, for one, was in my hometown. So it had already felt special. It was so much history behind SummerSlam with the whole year-long build between Becky Lynch and I and us trying to top our WrestleMania match was one thing and then afterwards, I’m like, okay, we did it and then when Bayley came out and I was like, oouu, I heard the crowd. This is gonna get good and then IYO comes out and then Dakota comes out and it was just — as much as everyone was like surprised and loved it, I felt the same way. It’s pictures of me with my facial expressions. It’s really truly how I felt in the moment. Very excited for them to come back. Bayley and I have unfinished business. I didn’t realize that it was gonna go the way that it’s going right now with the three of them now teaming up on me and I had to find two amazing partners, Asuka and Alexa [Bliss] and we’ll see what happens.

Towards the conclusion of the interview, Bianca was asked who she would form a stable with in WWE. She listed Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez as two talents she would start that with.

If I could put together a stable with the women’s division we have now, it’s rough because we have so many amazing women but I think I would have the ‘strongEST’ stable with me, Rhea Ripley and Raquel [Rodriguez]. Who can take that down, right? Who can take that down?

** During the most recent edition of The Tyrus and Timpf Podcast, former WWE talent Alex Riley revealed that he was backstage for NWA 74 night two.

Riley: Yes sir, and very grateful that you guys would have me there [at NWA 74] and I was honored and I see that main event. I was about 30 feet from it, right? The whole time and it was good. It was very, very aggressive. Y’all [Tyrus & Trevor Murdoch] okay now though? I mean that’s the question. You guys good? Have y’all squashed it?

Elsewhere in the conversation, Tyrus told the story of when he and Jon Moxley competed in a Halloween-themed Hardcore match in FCW. Tyrus said he replaced the thumbtacks Moxley planned to use with candy corn. He then mentioned that Trent Beretta came out dressed as an elderly woman and took the entire match to get to the ring.

Tyrus: [Jon] Moxley and I had a Hardcore Halloween match in FCW. So he went for what he thought were tacks. But, I replaced it with candy corn. So, he goes to drop the tacks because anyone knows Moxley, you can’t have Hardcore without [tacks] and there’s candy corn everywhere and he sees it and he pops for a second but he tries to lay me out and blah, blah, blah. He ended up taking a backdrop in candy corn and apparently, it hurts just as much as tacks… it was Halloween. Halloween Hardcore match but, you know, ‘dude buster’ in AEW [Trent Beretta], the Best Friends, he came out as an old lady and he legit took the entire match time to get in the ring as a walker and he f*cking gets in the ring and that was the finish.

** ‘In The Kliq’ has an interview with Dolph Ziggler, during which he touched on Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque overseeing creative in WWE. Ziggler said Levesque’s door is always open to go talk to him.

I mean, Triple H has been in the system from start to finish and helping young guys out in NXT and helping us out backstage. Hell, even when I was in the Spirit Squad 15 years ago, him and Shawn Michaels were helping us out so I think it’s a great fit, that’s the guy to do it. It’ll be a fun way to just switch things up a little bit for us but I mean, we’re surrounded by some of the greatest minds in the world. We’re very lucky. I would say ‘teammates’ because we all work together to put on this awesome show and it’s just something special about having all this talent, all these superstars, all these great minds behind the scenes and when it comes together, this group effort becomes something special. That’s why it’s the greatest thing in the freaking world when it goes great for us.

His door’s always open and we all live in different places but, Monday and Friday are the craziest days. I don’t think anyone — I don’t think I would believe it if someone told me how crazy and hectic those days are to me. How changes happen, how you have to get ready to go on the fly but that’s what’s the best part. We have all these awesome guys and gals, these superstars that can do anything at the drop of a hat. We need to get to a commercial break, they can make it happen. We can get things through, like beat somebody up, take somebody out but having that open door to be able to, ‘Hey, can we maybe go in this direction if we try this stuff out?’ That’s what helps people keep the gears going of our business so of course, yeah, that’s what’s great about it.

** On night one of NWA 74, Taya Valkyrie and Kamille headlined that show in a World Women’s Title match. Valkyrie reflected on that bout and Kamille’s progression during an interview with Good Karma Wrestling.

[Kamille has come] incredibly far. I’ve watched her grow so much over the last several years but especially in the last two years, you know, as NWA Champion, 400-plus days. She’s really come into her own and what we did, going the whole 20-plus minutes in that main event with a lot of pressure, the weight of the world on our shoulders, representing women’s wrestling, showing that we deserve that spot. We did that and people were left talking and that’s exactly what we wanted and I can’t wait to have my rematch and I can’t wait to get what is rightfully mine which is the NWA Women’s Championship.

** For several months, Brian Myers has been reigning as IMPACT Digital Media Champion. He spoke to SOUNDSPHERE/Gimme A Hull Yeah and expressed what it means to him be in possession of that title.

I take a lot of pride in it [IMPACT Digital Media Championship]. It’s my first major singles title and I’ve already had more defenses than anybody’s ever had of this championship. I feel like I’ve raised the championship stock, you know what I mean? It’s like, I think I’ve made it a lot more important, a lot more prominent part of the show so I’m proud of that, I’m proud to be the champion. It’s been a wonderful opportunity.
