AEW Dynamite scored its highest audience since last year’s Grand Slam event while topping cable with its best demo performance since June.

The September 14th edition of Dynamite from Albany averaged 1,175,000 viewers and approximately 509,000 (0.39) in the 18-49 demographic, per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

It was the most-watched episode of Dynamite since last year’s Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 22nd, which included Bryan Danielson’s first singles match in AEW against Kenny Omega.

In the key demo, the 18-49 audience was the highest for an episode of Dynamite since June 1st for the show at The Forum coming off the Double or Nothing show.

Overall viewership was up 13.5% and the 18-49 audience grew 4% from last week’s post-All Out show.

They saw a surge in Adults 50+ with a 0.50 in that demo. The last time they hit that high of a rating in the demo was last year’s Grand Slam, event and was up 14% from last week.

The key categories that grew included Females 12-34 rising by 39%, Adults 18-34 up by 27%, and Males 12-34 increasing by 23% from last week.

With WWE Raw going against Monday Night Football and being down this week, Dynamite topped Raw in Males 18-49 (357,000 to 355,000) and Males 12-34 (148,000 to 144,000).

In the 18-49 demo, Raw beat Dynamite with an average of 574,000 to 509,000. In 18-34, they were very close with Raw at 218,000 and Dynamite at 211,000. (Courtesy: Wrestlenomics viewership spreadsheet)

Dynamite was the top show among cable originals on Wednesday beating Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (0.32), and Tucker Carlson Tonight (0.23).

Dynamite also finished first on cable among Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54, and Males 18-49. The show was tied for third among Females 18-49 for the night on cable.

This number has to be viewed as exceptionally strong as they didn’t have the post-pay-per-view fallout that was going to heighten curiosity last week, especially given the backstage drama that dominated the wrestling news cycle before last week’s episode. This week, it was known the talent involved in the brawl wouldn’t be on the show and it was a regular episode built around the semi-finals of the world title tournament.

In Canada, the show fell to approximately 62,000 viewers and 34,000 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2, which are declines of 53% and 58% respectively from last week, which had been Dynamite’s highest viewership since Blood & Guts. Excluding last week’s show, Dynamite had averaged 74,000 viewers over the previous four weeks. This week’s Dynamite ranked seventh for the night among sports programming in the country.

Next week’s Dynamite is the Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium with Bryan Danielson facing Jon Moxley to determine the new AEW champion and Swerve in Our Glory defending the AEW tag titles against The Acclaimed in the top matches.
