Ricochet comments on missing WrestleMania for a third time.
From March until June of this year, Ricochet was WWE’s Intercontinental Champion. He did not defend the titles on Premium Live Events during his reign and only had defenses on SmackDown.
Ricochet talked to Steve Fall on NBC Sports’ ‘Ten Count’ podcast and reflected on missing this year’s two-night WrestleMania. He said he was disappointed about that and made mention that it was the third WrestleMania in a row that he’s missed.
He said it puts a chip on his shoulder and motivates him, but he also tries to stay grounded and be realistic about storylines, adding that he does not want to have the mindset of he should be doing everything.
Absolutely [I was disappointed I missed WrestleMania 38]. That was actually the third WrestleMania in a row that I haven’t been a part of and each time, you get more angry and angry and we really do. But, it also at the same time, just that chip on your shoulder gets a little bit bigger and just wanna prove them wrong even more, you know what I mean? When you get that opportunity to really show and… when you get that opportunity, you just have to deliver and so, I just know, man, anytime I get an opportunity, like I said, if it’s Raw, SmackDown, NXT, whatever the show is — Main Event — I’m gonna knock it out the park and it’s crazy, I’m not gonna give them any doubt anymore… At the same time, there’s also so many other aspects that I sit down and have to think about that go into making the show and so I try to stay very realistic, I really do. I try not to be like, well I should be doing everything huh? I try not to be that guy as well so I really try to stay grounded and stay realistic on all the stories because all my friends are on it so, I really try to stay in that spot too and really understand that there’s more that goes into it.
Gunther is currently in possession of the Intercontinental Title. His match with Sheamus at Clash at the Castle was the first time the I.C. Title had been defended at a Premium Live Event since WrestleMania 37.
