In his first match for NXT in the U.S., Oro Mensah scored a win and secured himself a spot in the Ladder match at Halloween Havoc on 10/22 for the vacant North American Championship. As of this writing, he and Carmelo Hayes are the two participants in the field.

Mensah secured his spot by defeating Grayson Waller. He received an unrequested assist from Apollo Crews, who cost Grayson the match. The bloody eye of Crews harkens back to when Waller defeated him and raked his eye to do so.

After Solo Sikoa had to relinquish the North American Championship, Sami Zayn reacted to the news:

Either Wes Lee or Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo are going to be joining the Ladder match field when they go one-on-one next week.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams were in tag team action and they fell in defeat to Chase University’s Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward. Chase got the pin on Hayes.

In addition to Lee versus ‘Stacks’ in the North American Title Ladder match qualifier, here are more matches that were announced for next week’s show:

  • Cameron Grimes vs. Joe Gacy
  • Pub Rules Match: Josh Briggs & Brooks Jenson vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) (w/ Joe Coffey)
  • Mandy Rose vs. Fallon Henley
  • Sol Ruca’s in-ring debut

The best of three series between Nathan Frazer and Axiom is now tied at 1-1 after Frazer got the most recent victory.

NXT Level Up host Kelly Kincaid was the backstage correspondent for tonight’s program. She interviewed Oro Mensah before his win over Grayson Waller.
