Billy Gunn has addressed the story that there was a possibility of the AEW performer appearing on Raw for the DX reunion.
Earlier this week, Road Dogg spoke about Gunn being a possibility for the show and they all thought he was in the day before. Road Dogg said that when it fell apart, everyone on their side was not happy about it.
In this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that AEW was open to the idea of Gunn appearing on the show on the condition that AEW is mentioned during the broadcast. In the Observer, it said that WWE stalled on the decision and in the end, wouldn’t agree to mention AEW, and no deal was made.
On Friday, SI.com released an interview with Gunn, who addressed his feelings on missing the DX reunion that took place earlier this month:
Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but I understand that I work for another company. It was a collective decision. I’m not putting it on anyone. I’m not sour about it. We’re two separate companies, and it just didn’t work out.
Since AEW launched in 2019, there have been several examples of the promotion allowing its talent to participate in WWE events including Billy Gunn being part of the DX Hall of Fame induction during WrestleMania 35 weekend, Chris Jericho appearing on the Broken Skull Sessions on the WWE Network, and select talent taping messages for John Cena’s return back in June.
