Booker T gives his take on the spot from Rousey and Shotzi’s match.
Over the weekend, WWE Survivor Series: WarGames took place and outside of the WarGames matches, there were several traditional-type matches including Ronda Rousey defending the SmackDown Women’s Title against Shotzi.
There was a point during the match when Shotzi attempted a DDT onto Ronda on the ring apron. It was a clip that made its way around social media.
The moment was also talked about by NXT commentator Booker T. On his ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast, Booker jokingly said Rousey reminded him of himself when Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque attempted to give him a backdrop on the ring apron.
I saw the one move that they was showing online where Shotzi went for a DDT off the top rope to the apron, the hard part of the mat and Ronda [Rousey said], let me protect myself on this one. I remember Hunter calling a backdrop and I held onto that rope so tight. I was like, man, I don’t do backdrops, you know what I mean? Ronda reminded me of me. I ain’t lying, I’m serious [Booker laughed].
Booker was on the call for the 11/29 NXT on USA Network which featured the reveal of the Iron Survivor Challenge competitors at Deadline.
